For racing fans, especially F1 enthusiasts, waiting for the new edition of the F1 gaming franchise for PlayStation and Xbox One has become somewhat of a annual ritual. While we love to write about all the forgotten circuits that have played their part in racing history over the years on Circuits of the Past, there are other ways in which we can enjoy some of these forgotten tracks.

Over the years, the F1 game has brought back to life a slew of forgotten racetracks for players to enjoy. And some gamers even go back to games of yesteryear, according to Sega Nerds to either experience old racetracks or race against the likes of Michael Schumacher or Ayrton Senna.

In this year’s edition, F1 2016 it is rumoured to feature a host of old racetracks for users to test their driving skills against. Codemasters announced they are currently working on “some new and exciting features.” Additionally, the developers documented how they would be involving players in the developmental stages of the game in order to get insights from them as to what they want including in the game and any improvements they feel are needed. Codemasters will be inviting fans to their studio as well as offering “an early pre-release code to gain impressions and feedback.”

“We’re looking to get you guys really engaged and involved in helping to shape the game, and it’ll be really exciting to see how many of you would be interested in getting involved and offering your feedback,” Codemaster’s head of Social Media stated.

Although the release date hasn’t been released yet, the game will be released on PlayStation, Xbox One, PC and mobile. The latter has been a huge focus of late for the game as the increase in smartphone usage rises year-on-year, and the amount of people having 4G connection continues to improve across the globe, according to Gaming Realms the company who launched the successful gaming platform, Pocketfruity in 2012. Thus, the mobile market for games such as F1 has become very lucrative.

For the nostalgic fans among us, it means we can play the game and race on tracks from yesteryear while we are on our commute to work, and generally anywhere we want.
